The shepherd of Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church is the Reverend Michael L. Murray. He was appointed Pastor of Metropolitan at the Missouri Annual Conference of July 2001 and has pastored the congregation for over 22 years. Prior to his appointment as pastor of Metropolitan, Reverend Murray served eight years as Presiding Elder of the Kansas City District in the Missouri Conference, while concurrently serving as pastor of Kyles A. M. E. Zion church in Des Moines, Iowa. Prior to his appointment to serve in Iowa, Rev. Michael Murray served churches in North Carolina. He is college educated and seminary trained with advanced studies toward his doctoral degree.
Reverend Murray is a gifted and talented minister with a compassionate and dedicated heart of a servant. Our congregation is blessed by his preaching and teaching ministry and through his administrative leadership. He is married to Mrs. Carmen Murray and they are the parents of four children and seven grandchildren.
